Good Game February 17, 2008 This game is really quite good. There are many different characters to play as. There is no difference between the male and female of each species to play. That's a nice change. The zoom is a little lame, but you want to see ahead for you most of the time anyway. There's around 25 hours of play time the first time through. Some of the bosses are challenging, but not impossible to figure out. If you like Baldur's Gate, you'll like this game as well.
Great Two Player Game! February 13, 2008 This has been a very enjoyable way for our family to spend time together. The character possibilities are great and plot is engaging! I recommended it to all of my family and now each of my sibs is addicted as well.
Champions of Norrath January 14, 2008 This game is awesome. Over this last summer, my boyfriend and I played Balder's Gate II: Dark Alliance and we both loved it. We have been searching for similar games when I found Champions of Norrath. I looked at tons of reviews before buying it and I find it to be very fun and almost identical to Balder's Gate II. Not the story line, but the battling and concept.
I love that each character comes with a male and female version, and you can customize different looks on your character. One thing I dislike though, is how the magic in the game doesn't give the character as much level up points as actually battling with weapons.
The first game I played, I was the Cleric, and my magic was awesome but my weapons sucked. I couldn't use practically ANYTHING! We started the game again because of a flaw in the game (Don't go into the Vampire's house until you have the boat and are looking for a navigator.) And now I am playing the Night Elf thing, and my attacks are killer, and my magic is okay. In Baldur's Gate II, my boyfriend and I would level up around the same time. When I was the Cleric, he was about 2.5 levels higher than me, and now he's only 1. I think this is because of the magic I used when I was a Cleric.
Overall, this game is stellar and if you have loves ones who play video games, play it with them. It's awesome and totally worth the $$$.
For those who like RPG style December 31, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I played Baldur's Gate for PS2 and loved it and then received this game as a gift because it is a similar role playing style game. I love this game! I love the customization of your player and the numerous weapon and armor customizations. Great game for a great price. I usually get bored with stuff quickly but I keep playing this one over and over because although the story is the same, you can make the game different by using a different race or selecting different spells.
Champions/ Return to Arms is the sequel, and you can import your character from this game into the sequel. Very cool!
