Not that great July 28, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I heard nothing but rave reviews about this game. Before you take my negative review seriously, you should consider that I played the game twice and never against anyone else. I think playing against someone may have been more fun. However, playing the storyline by myself was just boring. It wasn't really a fighting game, and wasn't really an action game, just a crazy mixture of the two. I found myself trying to use the special moves I learned from reading the book and strategy guide not to be that useful. I got better results by just mindlessly punching and kicking, which takes a lot of the fun out of the game. Luckily, I sold this one to a friend and his kids love it. Overall, I was disappointed, but I may just be too picky.
Dual Layer Disc Issues July 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When I first got SSBB, I popped it into my Wii and got a disc read error. Disc was in great shape and after some searching online, apparently this is an issue with a "small percentage of Wiis" (quote from Nintendo's website). I had to set up a repair order with Nintendo to have them clean my Wiis DVD lens and they also request that you send your copy of the game with your Wii. The process was relatively painless and they were very quick about it, but I was without my Wii for a few days.
With that said, great game. Smash Bros. for the Wii was my first exposure and the game has been a blast. I would definitely recommend it to any Wii owner. I would suggest it even more strongly to anyone who has had any disc read errors with their Wii in the past, as buying this game will get you a free ticket to have Nintendo clean your DVD drive lens.
Harder than we thought... July 28, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
We hadn't tried the other smash brothers games, so we didn't really know what to expect. We recently purchaed a Wii and our kids (8, 6 & 4) all love the Mario Kart game that we purchased. Even the 4 year old can play that one. This game is much harder, though and we wouldn't really recommend it for the casual gamer family.
Great Game July 28, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
More options for gameplay than you could even know what to do with. This is a great game, especially if you love the old Smash Brothers games. An absolute must have for every Nintendo lover.
Super Smash Bros Brawl Delivers July 28, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was skeptical at first because I wasn't as huge a fan as some with the Smash Bros series, but this game has it all!
Exciting storyline, tons of extras and unlockables and fast paced online/offline multiplayer. I definitly recommend this title whether you are a fan of the series or not. My 8 year old loves this game and many times since receiving it have we already had friends over to play both co-op and against each other.
