5 out of 5 stars Got to love Mortal Kombat   October 17, 2007
I have always been a fan of the mortal kombat games, but I hadn't played any of the new ones. I was very happy with this purchase. I love my new game.

4 out of 5 stars Ok... not the greatest   September 23, 2007
I'm a big fan of the Mortal Kombat series. I've been playing them for a long time. This one was alright, but not the greatest. I personally preferred Deception over Armageddon. Konquest mode was tedious and not all that fun. It seemed to have a lot of mini objectives that took a while to complete, but the whole thing seemed very short. And Arcade mode, well it wasn't very challenging and it seemed as though it was very short. It only takes beating a few characters to get to Blaze, and once that's done (and you will take you 3 tries at the most to beat him) there's really nothing left to do. The Krypt is very limited, I preferred Deception's Krypt. The Motor Kombat, now that is fun. That is 3 of the 4 stars in my opinion. It's cute, and fun, and it does take a while to get tired of it. But once you get tired of it, that's pretty much the end of it. So the bottom line is, they could've done better and once the initial fun ends, it's over and done.

4 out of 5 stars Sweeeet Game....   April 9, 2007

You get ALLLL the characters and an extra 1 or 2 special moves per character than what people are used to seeing... However, it lacks in fatalities as mentioned by others... The motor kombat is fun... but it needs more maps... Hopefully the next version can cram everything we want on one disc...

4 out of 5 stars Not so good, not so bad   March 26, 2007

PROS:
- Konquest, aside from the very annoying traps and the very linear plot, I'd say that this is the best adventure mode in any fighting game so far because the 3d fighting against multiple opponents is really fun, much better than devil within from tekken, I'd say it's the only aspect in which mortal kombat is superior to Soul Calibur.
- The large quantity of fighters available. Of course not all of them are worthy to be included, only for completists.
- Two fighting disciplines for each fighter, the 2 are available during the encounter. It's no big deal that in Deception and Deadly alliance 3 disciplines were available, I prefer more fighters with more moves, and I hate the discipline mixing kombos.
- The large quantity of moves in each discipline for each fighter.
- The crypt is friendlier than before, only one kurrency and the game tells the content of each space before you buy it, so you can decide, you save the time of searching the contents-list on the web.
- Motor Kombat, a racing game mode, looks silly; I haven't played it, yet.
- You can set the difficulty. If you are a casual gamer, then this is a huge plus, the easy level is really easy.
- The blood level is adjustable, this is unimportant to me.

CONS:
- The Kreate a fighter is a disappointment. Only one custom fighter per profile.
- The graphics are mediocre. Especially the hair of the kreate a fighter.
- Aside from the alternate costumes, the contents of the krypt are not so good.
- The ending for each fighter doesn't even include exclusive artwork, it consists only in the fighter executing a kata and a narrator reading the history, so it is very forgettable.
- I think that most of the costumes, even the alternates are the exact same from mk deception and deadly alliance.
- Konquest plot, similarly to deception, you play as a new and unknown fighter. It would be much more interesting a konquest history about Scorpion or Kitana or Kenshi or Sektor or Jade or Reptile or Shang Tsung or at least Kira or any of the more popular characters.

4 out of 5 stars the best one yet (almost)   March 17, 2007

pros: EVERYONE showed up it seems as there are over 50 characters to use. game looks and sounds great, plus a fun racing game for distraction purposes. konquest mode similar to Deception.

cons: only one hand fighting style per character. fatality feature is ruined by a bizarre and stupid game wide method to achieve it, rather than a specific move for each character.

overall still a great game.
