5 out of 5 stars A-B-A-C-A-B-B   November 6, 2006

This game is great!! You start off being able to choose from all the old characters, and there are a couple of new guys to unlock too who are pretty sweet. ("Meat" tears it up once you un-lock him)

At 1st I was bummed about the fatality system (like a lot of posters before me), but after a few days I figured it out and now I realize that it is way better than the old "single fatality" system. In Armageddon, you can still have Sub-Zero rip out spines (Down, Down, Circle) and there are a bunch of new cool finishers too. For example, you can use any character to rip off any other character's "Thigh" with (Down, Down, Square). To top that off, you can string together as many finishers as you are able to key in during the avaialbe time, so the sky is the limit.

The arena's are much improved too. A lot of them have special stage finishers that add some strategy to the fights.

Konquest is a little boring. It reminds me of a stripped-down Double-Dragon.

Motor Kombat is a nice addition. It is a low-budget mario-kart, each character can only use their 1 special item, but it is still pretty fun. It is a nice compliment to the rest of Armageddon.

I've had this game for about a week, and I like it more each day. It takes a cuople of days to adjust to some of the changes, and realize that they are improvements.

4 out of 5 stars Flawed Greatness   November 4, 2006

I picked the Premium Edition of Armegeddon (though I am disappointed with how Midway distributed them the one exclusive to Gamestop was the one I wanted, but I wont get it because of there pre-order policy, but whatever) and I have to say it's really great for huge fans of the characters. You get everyone, but the problem is a lot of the newer guys SUCK. The biggest problem with Deception was its lack of good characters, but besides that it was a perfect game.

Konquest mode this time around took a beating, although the fact that you get to fight while walking around (in addition to fighting one-on-one) is cool. The problems I found were its rather short and linear. The story is cool and I like the cut-scenes, but it just is NOT the same as the well done Konquest mode in Deception.

Now, to the actual fighting one-on-one, you will notice some characters moves are missing also the character specific fatalities are gone. Now you have a certain number combo fatality that you control. I thought that it is really funny how even though 60 something characters are available only about 40 are ever really used some are incredibly dumb, especially Mokap, who I know is a joke but he is still ridiculous. I LOVE some of the remade characters especially Stryker. Kreate A Fighter is very cool BUT they ruined it when they only allowed one per profile, absolutely stupid! Since everything is locked in kreate it can be a real chore to make different fighters.

The extras this time around are really cool, Ultimate mk3 (for premium edition owners) and Motor Kombat (which could have used some polish but still fun). The krypt I do not consider extra, because you will have almost everything by just playing Konquest. There is nothing to special in there anyway except alternate costumes.

Overall if you like MK you should love this game. It has its bugs and you will see nothing in it is perfect. It is still worth every penny to me.

5 out of 5 stars The Final Mortal Kombat game is one of the best games on PS2/Xbox   November 2, 2006

First of all I will say that this is really the final MK game that will ever be made (unless they make a new one, but even then will it have entirely new characters and all of that). Every character in the MK series is in this game (Mokap, Styker, Motaro and even Meat from MK4 and Chameleon from the PSone version of MK Trilogy), which makes it great to have battles that we never got to see before. The Collector's edition has an extra DVD with is and (I don't know if the regular edition has it) the arcade version of UMK3. The only thing that does disappoint me is the fatality system. It's a good idea but it would be better if you had a choice of doing that or see a cinamatic fatality (which this game could of been on a dual layered DVD). thank goodness that the Konquest mode is a whole lot better than the Deception Konquest mode, which wasn't great. Overall, this game is a must have in your PS2 collection (I mean for MK fans).

2 out of 5 stars huge disappointment   October 29, 2006

this game was a huge disappointment.i wish i never bought it.sure every character is on the game but they hardly have any moves.the comboes are weak.some of the boss characters are weak.also i didnt know that kreate a fatality would replace their individual fatalitys.that was real disappointing. The kreate a fighter pissed me off alote. You can only make one fighter per profile.if you want to make another fighter you have to make another profile and earn more money to make him.i dont think you should have to unlock anything in kreate a fighter. This game is boring.when ever i want to play mortal kombat i will play deception not armageddon.
