Just stick with the Official Redoctane one August 8, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had many problems with this controller over the span of 2 1/2 of a month. The first thing to go wrong was the whammy bar. It would work on and off and stayed that way till I opened it up. Finally, when things started to took better for the controller, the whammy bar was finicky again and the Spring broke in it. So, I opened it up yet again and tried to solve the problem. It has yet to break again but this has been much of a pain in my thorn. For 5 dollars more, Redoctane gives you more bang for your buck!
YOU CAN DO BETTER!!! July 25, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this guitar and I have a few things to say about it that are unfortunately negative.
1. My Starpower is on the fritz. 2. The buttons are akward and small. 3. The strap setup isn't like the one for the Xbox 360. After a short while, it gets uncomfortable to strum. 4. My strum bar came a little loose and is very squeaky. 5. The whammy bar hardly works.
It still works, but it's a last resort for me. A better investment is the wireless one that RedOctane made. There is no lag and its perfect in my opinion. I have still have yet to try out the Freedom V's though, I am hoping that those will be good. Happy rocking!
Best of the Best June 28, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Okay so I was searching for the perfect guitar for guitar hero, and this is the one, I tried many and sold many, ultimately I have kept this one and the red octane wireless, they are the two best this one is the better, though some of it is preference, they both have their high points, this one's buttons are much tighter, the RO has very loose button and is also much smaller, I like this one's size cause it has a much better feel closer to that of a real guitar, and it looks really cool, also with this guitar I have managed to get through every song on expert with hyper speed, though I admit it took a little getting used to this controller it took a few songs, but now I can't use any other cause this one is just better. The only problem i've had is a small thing with the wireless connection that is solved by just re-linking it once or twice till i get a good connection though it only seems to effect the whammy bar, and back to getting used to it, the only differences that i consider improvements are the size the thicker strum bar and the tighter buttons. also no the usb does not work with frets on fire sorry, it would make sense but it doesn't work, though it does work well with a usb adapter which i have done and is worth it. So ultimately if you are looking for a quality wireless guitar for guitar hero buy this one, it is worth every penny.
This guitar is great May 14, 2007 I have used this guitar for several months and am really enjoying it. It works well with Guitar Hero II and I am not missing a note. I have been able to get 100% of several songs at medium skill level. The strummer button is quite responsive and the whammy bar also feels good. Also, the frets feel good and responsive and don't feel cheap. The wireless is very good, and I like that you can use 3 NiCad or NiMH batteries and the USB cable will charge them. I use NiCad that I had sitting around, and it takes about 6-8 hours to charge them through the USB cable. I have been able to play through 5-6 sessions of 2-3 hours (15 hours total?) without having to recharge. NiMH should get more play time. You can play wired or wirelessly, which is a bonus. Overall, the Niko Frontman is a great product.
Cheap little guitar, very ashamed. April 17, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This cheap thing is not good at all. The whammy bar wont even adjust, I sold on amazon, hope the other person likes it. The Fret buttons are different from the original. The bar is wider and harder to hit the buttons. The only thing i like is the plug in charger if you dont have batteries, but that gets rid of the whole wireless aspect. Very dissapointed on the guitar.
