5 out of 5 stars army of two best served co-op   May 27, 2008
you've played co-op, or two player before, but not like this! it's the buddy system on steroids, and you really get a sense of the camaraderie between the characters. i should say even in single player, you still know where your buddy is and what he's thinking..all the time. graphically a stunner, and weapons/armor customization only add to this great effort. try it, you'll like it.

3 out of 5 stars Could be the start of a really great franchise!   May 18, 2008
Rent or borrow before you buy. For a "shooter", this one is really hit or miss (no pun intended). This ain't no Rainbow Six tactical shooter, it's more of a free-for-all frag fest some where between Full Spectrum Warrior and Mercenaries (without the cool vehicle use). There are some serious flaws the developers need to address and if they do they will have an awesome franchise on their hands. This game has a lot of future potential! With that said I rented Army of Two, resisted many initial controller throwing impluses and shouted WTF frequently in the training level. I actually grew to love this game by level two, not on it's technical merits but on fun factor alone! I ended up buying my copy from my on-line popular rental service. I enjoy playing Army of Two and I hope there is a sequel!

Negatives:
- AI is questionable at best. Bad guys run right past you. Sometimes, when injured your AI partner will drag you "deeper" into a fire-fight to "save" you.
- Weapons are somewhat unreliable. Even a tricked out assault rifle with all the toys attached, seems to still miss Mr. Bad Guy at extremly CQB range. "Why yes please do walk through my wall of 7.62mm tracer fire."
- I get the concept of the game's hook, but it would have been nice to have a little more customization options for the characters' look (i.e. no mask, maybe a ball cap or custom helmet). Also, I wish the player got to customize the weapon load out for BOTH characters in the solo campaign.
- Can't claim weapons on the battlefield from dead bad guys. I understand why, they don't want you to abandon your specialized kit. However a loaded shotgun on the ground is more practical then an empty weapon on your back.
- Weapons and gear costs to much to unlock. Just doesn't seem realistic.

POSITIVES:
- Great cut-scenes and story is plausible.
- Great weapon choices and customization. I love rocking a specialized AK-47!
- Pretty cool hand-to-hand fighting moves.
- "COOP" parachute drops are a great new addition to gaming!
- Maps are reasonably good. GPS use is a little to necessary though.
- Graphics are at the upper end of the current spectrum.
- I love that you can really shoot back when wounded and being dragged to safety. Once you figure out the special uses of your buddy in solo campaign, the game get's to be very fun.

3 out of 5 stars B-   May 12, 2008
This game is incredibly short. 6 levels divded up into sections so u can upgrade your weapons. Of course better weapons means you work your way through the levels much faster. It does have a does have replay in it, especially if you want to upgrade all your weapons. But otherwise its just ok.

1 out of 5 stars One word.... terrible   May 9, 2008

This game is just terrible... truly terrible. I was able to finish it in under a day and must agree with the review above. The game does look nice but the story is so contrived and sounds as though it were written as part of a John MCcain election speech. We must stop the terrorists... blah blah blah more terrorists and suicide bombers :America is the best. I think the worst part of this game though is the aiming system. It would be fun to play online if the aiming was not so difficult up close. You can easily shoot someone down but then you have to back up to kill them again before they get up and kill you. Also if someone leaves when you are playing online the game ends.... it really sucks when you're in the middle of a 30 minute battle and someone decides they dont want to play anymore.

Overall I would say rent this game or avoid it altogether.
I should have known from the cheesy music during the commercial that it would be like this.

4 out of 5 stars Good game if you have 2 to play   May 9, 2008

To me, this game is great if you have 2 people to play together. Solo play is just average.
