This is an incredible system; running Call of Duty 4 and Grand Theft Auto 4 on a high def set is a thrill. Every one of my Playstation 2 games plays on the my 80GB model using the emulation software, with only one or two minor gliches. I prefer the 80Gb to the 60GB because it's bigger, doesn't have the extra parts to play PS1 & 2 jammed in there, and it's not the first model of PS3, and therefore in my opinion is less likely to have problems. Then there's the built in blu ray player, when standalone blu ray players cost almost as much as the PS3! If you have a full 1080p high def screen, the only way to get full 1080p video is through blu ray discs, and Planet Earth is truly a sight to behold. If you can afford a PS3, I whole heartedly recommend the 80GB model, especially if you own PS2 games, since the 40GB model has NO backwards compatability, and also lacks extra USB ports. 80GB's been discontinued so get it while you can!

I purchased the 80 gig playstation 3 and I'm very satisfied on the graphics output and the sixaxis controller. I'm glad there coming out with the Dualshock 3 and more games, the only downfall is the system doesnt have many addicting games yet. I'm a playstation fan and I know they'll get more soon. The system won't disapoint you. You won't have to buy those expensive playstation 2 memory cards because 80 gig memory built in. I loved the web browser you can watch movies, videos, and music on it too! Great if you don't have a PC to do it with. the system comes with a cord to charge the controller unlike the wii and 360 which you have to buy rechargable kits for. The blueray player is nice I don't have a HD TV to get the output of it all but its a step up for when I get one. All in all its a 9.5/10 sony will improve and this system is a great start for a new gen of gaming

Just buy one and stop thinking about it...the PS3 is King of the consoles and the games keep getting better.

5 out of 5 stars Great game console -Love the Blu-ray- but please make it read flash movies and Java so I can watch Netflix   May 2, 2008

Image quality is just outstanding. Even my home made videos -DVD- look great because it upgrades the quality of the signal. Love all the other capabilities. The only thing that I will change is that the PS3 Internet browser cannot read/download flash. It does not read Java as well -so I can't watch Netflix online instant movies. THAT NEEDS A LITTLE BIT OF WORK FROM SONY!
