The best in the series i think February 15, 2008 Far better than San Andreas and a huge improvement of GTA3. Best addition: MOTORCYCLES. Also you can buy properties and houses which leads to more save spots and more missions to do. Excellent game overall when compared to the others in the series. Alhough it is still rockstar, which means it has its frustrating points. Cars still randomly explode when you flip em. And it is extremely easy to die. But still fun for a couple of hours. Not worth the money though guys, for lack of replayability.
Classic January 19, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
One of the best games Ive played to date, probably my favorite out of the GTA series. GTA3 is a close second but besides having a bigger map I thought everything else in Vice City was better - the 80s atmosphere, music, missions and voice acting (especially Ray Liotta as Tommy Vercetti). The amount of freedom allowed in the game is great - you can focus on the main storyline, cruise around, do the side missions or just wreak havoc in general. Although later titles like San Andreas naturally added improved features to the gameplay, I found it boring and stopped playing halfway through. Vice City is my personal favorite because its a city you want to explore, the characters and storyline are more interesting and it just has a better feel to it.
Vice city review December 7, 2007 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Want to steal cars?, deal drugs?, beat up or kill cops, without ending up in prison for the rest of your life? then try this game on for size, as Tommy vecetti you can do all this and more
If you liked this game on ps2 and xbox you will love it on a PC. August 10, 2007 For those of you that don't know about this game(all 3 of you)it's about a young up and coming mobster goon named Tommy that is fresh out of the pen.He is sent to Vice city to make new friends and influence people in the only way he knows how, with a hammer and a gun.The mob in Liberty city wants to expand thier business and they think Tommy is the man to get the job done.Along the way Tommy meets his coked up lawyer Ken and also finds a new partner named Lance.Vice city lets you buy properties, guns and also lets you wear different outfits. There are tons of vehicles in this game including cars, motorcycles, scooters, choppers,Attack choppers and planes. You can do pretty much whatever your demented mind can come up with in this game including robbing stores, killing cops-and anyone else for that matter, carjacking and using drugs. This game was great on ps2 and xbox but if you want to play it to its fullest potential you should buy it for the PC.The graphics for the PC version of this game are 10 times better than those of the ps2 and at least twice as good as the xbox version when you turn off the frame limiter. Not only does the PC version of this game have better graphics but it also has the ability to connect to online multiplayer when you download the Multi theft auto mod.The only downside to the PC version of Vice city is the fact that using a mouse and keyboard realy doesn't work well for controls and you will need a gamepad as a controller. This was a console game first so i can understand why the mouse and keyboard dont work well for it but when you use a usb gamepad you will find the controls are nice and tight.Even if you still own the ps2 or xbox version of this game you should get the PC version just to experience the online multiplayer mod which can be downloaded from many websites(just type GTA VICE CITY MULTIPLAYER into any search engine). After all these years and even after Gta San Andreas this game is still fun to play.Buy it!
Will NOT run and a MODERN/CURRENT system. May 16, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is one of the best and most influential games of all times. There is only one problem: it won't run on a current system. First it didn't like my Video Cards; gForce 8800s It can NOT adjust to my controller at all. If you use a controller that has an analogue system (like the PS1/ps2 controllers) it will not be able to accept proper commands. There is no way to invert or reverse the X/Y axis. So up is left and right is down. It's imposable to get used to doing everything in the wrong order. Half my buttons don't work even though the settings options can read them. The game refuses to recognize my sound card (X-Fi Pro) for what it is, giving me only bare mono sound. It chokes constantly crashing for no reason and freezing the system even though I have 8Gb of ram. Works alright on my old system, but that defeats the premise of a gaming machine.
