5 out of 5 stars Exactly what you would expect, with a couple of bells and whistles   December 7, 2007
Tetris evolution is based upon the world popular game: Tetris. Since I was looking for a Tetris game on a more advanced platform (the xbox 360), this fit the standards perfectly. The game is fun to play and you can get lost in those falling blocks for hours. There are many different customizations that Evolutions allows, both for your character, and background environment (including music and videos).
My only problem with Tetris Evolution is that it can be somewhat repetitive after a while of playing. However, those who have played Tetris before (any version of it) will find that it meets their expectations and goes beyond.
Great price for what it offers. Shipping was very fast and box came in perfect condition.

2 out of 5 stars Is not ONLY about fun factor   November 12, 2007

First of all, this is tetris, you will have fun with it.

But, is not a good one execution of a tetris game, is not even the best tetris you will find for xbox 360.

Taste asides, I think the music is poorly selected, poorly secuenced and actually disturbing, if you are at level 10 and start thinking about what's that noise instead how to place the tetrino, is not a good thing.

It doesn't help that you can't select a random music and background, so you MUST take time to change the selection MANUALLY for each game. And to do this, you must FIGHT your way trough very sluggish menues.

The graphic design is also lackluster, from the confusing queue line to the translucid matrix that make you loose tetrinos depending on the background image, specially the blue ones.

If I have to do it again, I probably would choose Tetris Splash from the Arcade, wich cost less than 10 bucks, is a lot better at music and graphics and you can fire up directly from the HD w/o changing discs.

5 out of 5 stars New and Improved Tetris   September 10, 2007
I remember playing Tetris on Sega and SNES, and I loved it back then. I'm glad Xbox 360 re-made the game and added some different play modes. I'm hooked again!

4 out of 5 stars Good but same old tetris   July 16, 2007
Good game on the 360, nice graphics and all but it really should have been a Xbox Arcade game. A lot more people would have got it and played on live.

4 out of 5 stars Fun but nothing new here   June 27, 2007

I purchased this game mainly for my wife, who prefers the simplicity of old-school video games like Tetris and PacMan. My kids and I have enjoyed playing this game as well. Two-player mode is nice.

The game backgrounds are nice, but can be distracting, and can't be turned off. One Con is that besides the nice graphics there really isn't anything new here. Also, the high scores are kept awkwardly, as we still haven't figured out how to keep them from all being assigned to the 1st player. Finally, I really disliked the way the XBox 360 achievements are set up -- you have to play all the different modes to get them, and they're basically just accomplishing the same handful of objectives (e.g. back to back tetrises, getting x points) on each of diffrent modes. Would've prefered to have more of the goals achievable via the standard tetris game that most people will be playing.

Overall -- If you want/need a tetris game for a next-gen system, this is a good choice, but if you already have a tetris game on another platform that you enjoy there's nothing new here that would make this purchase necessary.
