FF fanboy May 16, 2008 I love final fantasy, so I can't hate it. Being objective though, this is a great portable fantasy whch makes me want to remake of four even more.
Possibly the worst in the Final Fantasy series, although not necessarily a bad game. April 6, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This game confuses me. Its got a lot of potential for a great game, but it just doesn't come through. I tried really hard to like this game, it is Final Fantasy. I guess there had to be at least one disappointing game in the series. The sound effects are pretty decent, its typically what you would expect from a Final Fantasy game. The graphics are pretty good for a hand held game, and vastly improved from the original. It has some added cut scenes which are alright I guess. The combat is really boring and unbalanced. Granted, i usually love turn based combat, but this was just terrible. The difficulty curve is idiotic. You have to use potions to just to survive in the beginning area. Then, they tell you to go somewhere you figure that means you should be strong enough to handle. Well that's really not the case in this game. They tell me to go to the castle, so I go to the castle. I run into some creatures and try to fight them but low and behold they one shot me and all my party members! I was really looking forward to playing this game, and it had all the basics of what I expect from a Final Fantasy game, but it fell flat on its face after that.
Final Fantasy III February 25, 2008 a good fun game overall, slow at the begining and difficult to accomplish begging tasks, but very fun.
When will we get a true port of FF III?! February 13, 2008 1 out of 40 found this review helpful
I felt I needed to rate this game due to poor porting.
-->First mistake, porting the only Final Fantasy game that was never released here in the states on a handheld instead of a main console. -->Second mistake, completely overhauling everything. Simply up the graphics to SNES standards. It's originally a NES game. It's not truly a classic port if things are changed to much. No need for 3D grpahics or extra quests and dungeons if the original didn't have them. -->Thirdly, Final Fantasy I & II, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, and XII were all released on the playstation. Why wasn't Final Fantasy III?
All in all, I'm glad I didn't waste my money on this one. If they would just properly port it to the PS or Nintendo Wii without changing anything except maybe bringing the 2D graphics to SNES quality. Or simply use 256 colors instead of 16.
Special Note: I would actually like to see them port Final Fantasy I thru Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy Mystic Quest onto the Nintendo Wii :)
Great Remake of a classic Final Fantasy RPG February 8, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Pros- Great graphics, and great new feature of using the stylus for playing and going through your menus. I've had it for several weeks and it has been fun. I enjoy it alot. Battles are pretty quick and easy to control with the DS stylus feature. Cons- Leveling up is a bit slow and can get boring and tedious. Story line can leave you not completely sure where to go next.
Overall I think it is a must have for any FF RPG fan.
