Wow... I am... STUNNED November 19, 2006 55 out of 66 found this review helpful
I figured there's so many people writing BS reviews I'd throw a real review up. I picked mine up at Wal-Mart, and I'm JUST reviewing the system + Wii Sports (haven't played the other games).
What can I say.... this is.. GREAT.
"But you only gave it 4 Stars!", you may be saying (or maybe not).
Well, yeah, I did. There are some issues, particularly with the Wiimote... it seems a little... touchy. And this MAY be user error, or may require another firmware update. Honestly, if I could, I'd give it **** 1/2 or **** 3/4. But without playing any other games, I can't give just the console itself a solid ***** rating... yet. :-)
One thing I can say regarding the Wiimote and Sensor bar: Experiment. Find what works. I may still have some more playing to do before I can get it just right.
Another minor letdown is the UI. I consider myself fairly intuitive with user interfaces, and there were a few spots that had me scratching my head. Nothing major, but I'd like to see this cleaned up in a later release of the firmware.
The console itself is physically stunning... I'm serious. This machine is a beautiful, elegant example of engineering. The Wiimote and Nunchuck are virtually weightless. I barely felt they were there. The console itself is beautiful. Much better looking than the PS3.
As I said, the only game I've played so far is Wii Sports... it's the perfect pack in for the Wii. The only word to describe this game is "FUN!" I've played through all the games, and the Tennis and boxing games are my favorites. Bowling's kinda lame, and golf is okay. Baseball is fun too. Overall, a great package. I know they say you can sit on the couch and make small movements, but... no... GET UP AND MOVE! :-)
Overall, I'm happy with my purchase, and I highly recommend picking one up. I've also got Zelda, Rayman, Trauma Center, and Super Monkey Ball to go through, and I will review those as well.
Played the Wii today at home and November 19, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The most amazing thing about this console is the accuracy of the sensor bar. Played only Wii sports so far but the sensitivity and realism of motion throughout all of the sports games was amazing. I especially enjoyed the accuracy of the golf game. Just hope that many games are made that take advantage of the motion sensor function. By the way, boxing game is a great workout.
