Well worth the wait March 24, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Brawl is the honored successor to the Smash Bros. franchise that started a long time ago, in a living room far far away.
Its more in depth characters, colorful taunts, extended 1 person game play (see Subspace and Classic modes), stage builder, 2 new trophy categories (CDs and stickers) all add a much needed heavyweight to the Wii's lineup.
Buy this game, you will not regret it. I've owned a Wii since Day 1 in 2006. This is hands down the best game yet. Super Paper Mario and Wii Sports come close, but this is a whole new ballgame.
My only gripes, NOBODY is ever online to play. And when they are it seems any non-friends are a crazy lag time not associated with any other Wii games (Strikers). But if you have 1-2 friends out of town that have this, you wouldn't tell the difference when you play them online. So its a give and take there.
Smash on everyone!

So I was pretty frustrated reading the reviews before I got this game. Everyone seemed to be on one side of the fence or the other, and those who actually reviewed the game were really quite long winded. Here's my version: Pros: Better graphics, but not by much, over the GC verison. More characters are actually decent, and less frustrating to play with. Cons: Awkward control system if you only have a wiimote. Single player game is slow, and monotonous. Not a lot of variety.
Overall, I'm quite dissappointed with this game. It's not that it's not good, it's just not what I've come to expect from Nintendo. I played the game for about 6 hours in my first week of owning it and it just feels like I'm going through the motions trying to unlock everything. This may change when my wife has some time to play the 2 player mode with me, but she isn't too into fighting games.
Recommendation: Buy this game used if you're interested. My guess is that in a few weeks there are going to be a lot of people like myself who are going to be bored with this one. I'll likely try to sell mine while I can still get a decent price for it.

Can't get kids off it! LOL. So that can be good or bad! They LOVE it.
Best Game Ever!!!! March 23, 2008 Lots of great gameplay! Several multi-player activities for you and friends. Wi-fi capabilities make it possible to play people in anywhere in the world! Awesome fun!
Best Controller + Best Title = Disaster? March 23, 2008 4 out of 10 found this review helpful
How did this happen? If you don't have a a Gamecube controller - dont bother. This discovery ruined what should have been a fun Saturday night.
