5 out of 5 stars Not dissapointed   April 21, 2006

So I finally got a PS3 thanks to the Amazon movie offer, even without having a HD TV yet. Was it worth it? YES! First, I downloaded the 1.90 update. With this update, I stream pictures, videos, and music from my PC to the PS3 so that the PS3 can send it to my TV and home theater. The result is an awesome environment, very useful for parties. The PS3 is whisper quiet, the menus intuitive, online is FREE, and it runs as hot as the older PS2. No quality issues like on that other console.

In terms of gaming, I downloaded the Heavenly Sword demo. Gorgeous but short, although it made me want the game. Warhawk is next. Also, it displays PS2 games beautifully, God of War 2 and Shadow of the Colossus look sharp and crisp, same with Devil May Cry. No issues with backward compatibility.

In all, the PS3 is clearly the most advance console. The game library is slowly but surely getting there. I can safely give my PS2 to my sister now. Sony has a winner (again) and once the price cuts hit a level for mainstream consumers, it will take command of the console wars. The Wii is not even the same league. Toyotas sell way more than BMWs but no sane person would compare the two. Same case for the PS3 and the Wii, no comparison.

5 out of 5 stars best system ever   August 24, 2005

The PS3 is the most advanced system to ever hit shelves. It has great graphics and a blueray player, while its expensive, its worth it. You don't really need an HDMI cable because when i play NBA 07, it is full 1080 P res. and i have no additional cables. This is alot better than the wii and 360.

Currently I own an Xbox 360, and there's only 2 reasons why I still have it: 1) Halo 3, and 2)once i'm done with Halo 3, I will trade in my 360 and all the games and extras for a PS3. Why? Last Christmas my original 360 dies on me, one of the many having the now infamous 3 red rings of light. Since then Microsoft has extended the warranty and established a billion dollar repair and return setup. The games are very good, but the hardware problems are totally unacceptable.

So this Christmas I'll trade in my 360 for the PS3. Not only are some good games coming out, the Playstation Network is beginning to shape up real nice (it helps that it's also FREE). Also, the Blu-ray movies are gaining alot of momentum, and the wireless networking will save me alot of trouble when I upgrade to a new Mac--no more wires anywhere! It's better to save up and have something that will serve more than one purpose, instead of waiting for M$ to send you a replacement!
