Stick with the PS2 versions August 24, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is an infuriating game, just buy it if you want to spend 3 hours trying to finish one mission. Otherwise dont waste your money. Seems like the FCS in this version likes to break alot. I dont know about you but I like to play games for fun, not to be frustrated. 20 tries on the 1st chapter mission baldora was enough for me.
Also, why would they remove the most fun part of the game, the arena combat from this one? That was extremely disappointing.
Basically this game absolutely sucks compared to the ealier versions on other platforms. Don't waste your money like I did, buy it used, it is not worth the 50 or 60 dollars you'll spend on a new one.
Best "Mech" game ever! August 18, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
As an oldschool fan of "giant fighting robot" games(starting with the original Battletech boardgame waaayyy back in the day) I must rank this game as the pinnacle of of the genre! The ability to customize your Mech's weapons and defenses beats every installment of the "Mechwarrior" franchise (though admittedly the Mechwarrior storylines felt better developed) and I'm not even going to bother to compare it to the lackluster Gundam franchise. The action here is FAST and as one reviewer mentioned some missions can be completed in under 30 seconds, but this is totally a function of having the right Mech design to get the job done. But don't worry if you aren't super-twitchy- there are plenty of missions that can benefit from a slower more thoughtful approach (those with environmental challenges or terrain that can be used to your advantage). It is the combination of strategy (outfitting and tuning your Mech for a particular mission goal) and frantic fast-paced mech-on-mech combat that manages to satisfy all my gaming needs. Armored Core 4 has both adrenaline and brains. All it needs now is a movie franchise (and after you see the opening cinematic I think you'll agree with me on that one!)
Fun August 3, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This game is very fun, the graphics are a little below what I expectec but no problem at all.
Bought into the franchise... May 13, 2007 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I pre-ordered this game because I enjoyed the AC series for the PS2 and was looking for a release with updated PS3 graphics. Should have waited for the review. The parts system is very confusing. Most missions are fairly stupid, some only lasting 30 seconds! By the time you figure out what you're supposed to do, you're dead, and then you have to wait for everything to load again. Tick-tock. I bought the game with a gift certificate, so I'm not out that much.
The Future of AC is Definately Bright! May 11, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been an Armored Core fan for a long while and I must say that PS3 has pushed this game to a new level.
Mechs, Guns, and Explosions, Enough said.
Goodluck to all the other gaming companies trying to top this game any time soon, and that is a challenge!
