 Tempermental and difficult to use February 16, 2008
This is a nice idea, but very difficult to use in real life. Getting the controllers plugged into this thing is barely possible. Given about 2 minutes, you can get them plugged in. However, the process results in the front of the controller getting scratched and gouged. Even when you do manage to get one plugged in, you have to get it seated just right or, even though it appears to be charging, it really isn't.
Find another product.

Its a little hard to get the controller onto the charging station. Other than that it works great.

The four-charger charging base is an excellent addition to my PS3 system. It is handsomely designed and clutter free. Using the PS3 USB cables to charge the individual controllers, only provides a charge to them while the PS3 is turned on. The charging base keeps all four of my PS3 controllers charged even when my system is turned off. I no longer have to keep track of 4 USB cables, and all of my controllers are neatly stored on the charging base and are always fully charged, ready to go. I would pay twice the price for this device because it has improved my enjoyment of my PS3 so much.
One recommendation, leave the "Nyko" protective stickers for the controllers in the package when you toss it out. They are just for looks (and advertising), won't protect the controllers from scratches, and will shred and peel.

I bought this charger just after I purchased my PS3 and overall have been pretty happy with it.
I read the reviews and most people liked it. Those that didn't were especially harsh on the difficulties they had putting the Sixaxis controllers in the base. I'll admit, the first time I put a controller in the base, it took me a little to figure out, but once I did, it's really not a problem at all.
You can set this charger just about anywhere, as it does not need to be right near the PS3. This is a good thing if you have young children like I do.
Overall, a solid, if a little quirky charger.

I've had this charger 3 weeks now and it works great and constantly keeps my PS3 controllers charged. the only thing I don't like about is that placing the controllers in takes a little time, about 15-30 seconds, compared to the just a second it takes for other controller chargers for my Xbox360 and Wii. also the stickers that go on the mini USB port are useless. i tried putting them there and a few days later they fell off.
