4 out of 5 stars Some flaws but still a great game   February 17, 2008

This is my first foray into the DMC world. I am really impressed by how this game looks and am overall happy with the game play. I do have a few complaints: 1.Is it just me or can the camera get a little tricky? I found myself entering a room only to have the camera change and then immediately leave that room again 2.There are too many cut-scenes though they do add to the story. 3.Last but not least is the save feature. I found myself starting a level only to save in the middle, quit and then have to start that level from the beginning. (guess maybe I need to read the manual) Overall I would not pass this up even if you are new to the series.

Capcom's Devil May Cry series makes the leap to next-gen with Devil May Cry 4. Fans of the series will come to find that Dante has taken a back seat with this installment (although there are segments where you play as him) and you will spend a majority of the game in the shoes of Nero; an ultra cool, ultra stylish antihero with a demonic arm. If you've been playing the games in the series for any substancial amount of time, you won't be disappointed with what you get in Devil May Cry 4. Nero is an awesome character with an even more awesome array of moves and techniques to take down baddies, all of which is made the better by the incredibly sharp controls. The game itself is simply gorgeous to behold, from the in-game graphics to the beautifully rendered cut-scenes, along with great character animations; all of which more than make up for some repetitive looking environments. The combat of the game is addictive, thrown in with some great, fun boss fights as well. The only real drawbacks of Devil May Cry 4 is that the platforming elements that appear in the game just don't really fit in well with the rest of the game, seeming as more of an afterthought. The puzzle elements aren't anything special either. It should also be noted that Capcom has downed the difficulty factor as well. Anyone who first played Devil May Cry 3 when it was first released will remember how unbelievably hard the game was before it was re-released, and fans should be happy to know that this installment is nowhere near as hard, but its not a breeze either. All in all, Devil May Cry 4 is a beautiful, bloody, and addicting action game that nicely updates the series for the next-gen, and despite some moments of repetition, the game succeeds mightily.

4 out of 5 stars Another series addition   February 11, 2008

The Devil May Cry series is notorious for it's pace of game play. Not often can one fulfill their ADD/multi-tasking craving with a video game but once again, DMC pulls it off.

The game plays rather similar to the previous ones. Flashy and incredibly fluid movements. Nero plays a lot like Dante but a bit more constricted. While his system is very interesting, he works as more of a "knock your enemy down and press B" to win in any fight. Don't get me wrong, the game play as Nero is still quite fun and actually my preference, but they could have done something a little more diverse.

Playing as Dante is a blast. You can change to any of the four stances (Trickster, Gun Slinger, Blade Master and Royal Guard) at any time during game play. You'd expect it to be the same old thing playing him like in the other games but with the new weapons established and the quick combos you can pull (teleport, slash, smash, teleport, blast) it makes it all the more interesting.

Over all, I give the game a four point five, simply due to the fact that Capcom kept the same looping rock music for all fights in the game; and the game is rather short (I beat it in ten hours but I was a huge DMC3 addict). This game is a definite "must own" for ones action-game library.

5 out of 5 stars Devil may cry 360 style....Oh man!   February 11, 2008

To be quiet honest, this is the first time I played devil may cry. Never played the previous ones before but was interested. So I just purchased this for my xbox 360 and man oh man is it fun. The graphics are wonderful, especially on my sony dlp 1080p hdtv. The combos are nasty in this game and I love the whole matrix movement in the air while reloading some clips into a hellish monster. After I beat this game I shall purchase a the other previous ones for my ps3. Always supporting xbox 360 first.
