Basically a next gen Prince of Persia minus the fun July 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had high hopes of this game going into and at first glance it would seem as though it was going to be a lot of fun. However, from the moment I engaged in combat I realized that this was not going to be a fun game. They used a similar system previous implemented in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, which was that normal attacks on enemies don't do anything, they are all blocked/deflected. You are required to use a special ability or parry type counter to defeat an enemy. This gets somewhat annoying fairly quickly and make the combat system extremely unexciting. In addition to that, there is nothing 'fun' about the kill in this game. As I said this style is very much like Prince of Persia, though in PoP, there was a very creative a visually satisfying way to defeat enemies. You would basically jump off of them and do sort of a cartwheel to then attack them from behind. You could also jump off of walls and do the same sort of thing. In Assassin's Creed however, when you do this sort of counter attack, it is basically a cut scene which creates a complete disconnect with the character. Though this is the easiest way to defeat an enemy, you almost don't even want to do it because it just isn't fun and breaks the flow of the game so quickly. Truth be told, I am not all the way through the game just yet, though I don't see the gameplay changing much throughout the story. I suggest playing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and though it won't look like Assassin's creed, it is a much more exciting and fun game to play through.
review of Assassin's Creed July 8, 2008 Assassin's Creed is immensely detailed and interactive. However, the story line is twisted and the game is very easy to complete. Assassin's Creed has a reputation for being "bloody", but the game really isn't that graphic.
A worthy buy for single-player lovers July 4, 2008 If you enjoy action with a dash of stealth involved, this game is for you. The game's graphics are remarkable, and the action scenes are quite cinematic. The easy roof jumping is also fun, and is achieved with a very good control scheme. Overall, you will find this game a worthy contender for those without Xbox Live Gold, or those who just want to play by themselves. I look forward to the rumored next 2 games.
The reason I bought an XBox 360 July 2, 2008 Previews for this game are the reason I bought an XBox 360. It is extremely realistic, with some of the most beautiful CGI animation I've ever seen. I am currently deployed in the Middle East, and it is awesome to see an accurate (fictional) portrayal of the environment.
The only downside is it is somewhat repetetive after a few hours. There are just some situations where you can't do exactly what you would like, but there is a definite linear storyline to the game that you can't deviate from. There isn't enough side-game for me, but that doesn't make it any less of a hit.
Totally enjoyable! 4/5.
