5 out of 5 stars This cooling fan rocks!   January 21, 2008

I bought this fan because I heard so many bad things about the intercooler and the pelican fans, and man, Im glad I did. This fan works awesome. I liked it cause it fits in the front and sucks air through the ps3, instead of trying to suck it out. My ps3 is way cooler now and it doesnt freeze up as much anymore.

This fan is pretty quiet too,, but sometimes it makes a loud noise when you first start it up,, my advice for you to that is hurry and turn it off, and turn it on again. Keep trying to turn it off and on with the power switch cause it will eventually stop making the noise. I only needed to do this a couple of times. I would have gave this product 4 stars but I got mine for 15 dollars,,,,,,,, and I couldnt ask for more for that price so,, I gave it 5.

4 out of 5 stars Decent Fan   January 18, 2008

The fan installed easily and is held in place securely. There are a couple nubs on the top side that need to be placed into the air openings on the P3 case. Make the connection at the USB port then squeeze the case (top to bottom) near the nubs and push forward slightly, they will slide right into the air vents. The fan does move air fairly well, you can tell by placing your hand on the side of the unit, where the air is being blown out. This unit does draw air from the bottom side (when mounted horizontally), so I found by hanging it over the edge of my shelf it moves a little more air. I also like the fact that the unit turns itself on & off with the P3 system and if you don't want it on at all the power button is right on the front. The fans are a bit loud but what can you expect from 4 small PC fans

Bought this cooling fan for my 40gig PS3 and it doesn't even attach properly. I didn't even bother using tape knowing that the heat from the PS3 would make it useless. Returned it the next day. Truly a waste of money. Sony should not even allow this vendor to make this product for the PS3. The old adage applies, you get what you pay for.

1 out of 5 stars Bad fit and loud   January 9, 2008

I bought this fan for my 40GB PS3 after it had gotten hot. When I installed it it would not work. I figured out that it was not making good contact in the USB port. I had to file about a 1/16" off the whole backside including the fan housings so it would work. Also I had to use some tape to help hold it on. It does seem to move alot of air through the console and keep it cooler but it is quite loud.
