1 out of 5 stars Beware the fine print   September 6, 2008

Compared to GH3, this game is a disappointment. On some tunes, it's too easy; on others it seems the synchronization between guitar and screen is poor. There is no co-op career mode. There are no "sponsors" when completing sets, so compared to GH3 you get little virtual pay.

I'm neutral about the tunes, there were only a few that seemed familiar.
The video rendering actually seemed better to me, but that didn't make up for the poorer game play. (If there's one lesson Activision should have learned from the Wii's success, it's that game play is more important than rendering quality.)

But, the deal killer was all the legal fine print. They say you're not allowed to use a non-Activision guitar controller. (Of course, other brands will work; Activision apparently just wants to sell more of theirs. Imagine how people would react if Microsoft only allowed you to use MS mice with the next version of Windows.)

After you open the package, and open the instruction booklet, surprise! There's a software license inside that claims you agreed to it because you opened the package.

There are statements telling you that you can't copy the software and you have no need for a backup, but the media is only warranted for 90 days. I decided they were right about the backup -- I don't need one because I don't need their products at all! So, I returned it for a refund.

5 out of 5 stars Guitar Hero - For my 8 year old nephew   September 2, 2008
I bought this for my 8 year old Nephew and he loves it. He now recognizes different music types.

1 out of 5 stars Expected more!   August 31, 2008

I expected more of the aerosmith famous hits in the game! Didn't like the opening cover songs and there is no co-op career option like the regular guitar hero game. It is not a bad game, just expected more out of it!

3 out of 5 stars A Snoozer   August 27, 2008
I grew up during Aerosmith's revival after the "Walk this Way" remake and while never a big fan, I liked them well enough to pick this game up.

As others have said, the song choices are really bad. I never thought I would get bored while playing GH, but especially during the early stages the songs not only are easy to play, they are boring to listen to. For the most part, the non-Aerosmith songs are more fun than those from the band the game is named after.

The graphics are good enough, but you'd think they could have at least added more new quotes for the splash screens between songs. I do think the band's video intros to each stage was a nice touch.
