Need some fun April 6, 2008 Well the story mode is pretty good you can create your own fighter, So thats always a plus, If you have friends and are looking for a game to beat each other, I would definately recommend this game.
Not what we expected March 15, 2008 2 out of 10 found this review helpful
Not exactly a fun family game when the boxers don't do what you use the controllers to get them to do -- major delayed reactions. It seems like a bunch of random punches. We wound up with sore thumbs pressing buttons trying to defend against another boxer's punches, and all our guy would do is just stand there and keep getting hit. We couldn't read the print on the screen and the documentation to get help -- where's that? And WHY is it necessary to throw a bunch of scenes of half-naked women holding round cards after every round? I expected a TEEN rating for a little blood and violence, but not sleeze. I'm sure others love this game and perhaps understand the button techniques, but like I said, for us it was a disappointment, as we thought it would be better family fun but instead was frustrating.

I've got some seriously mixed emotions on this one.
On one hand, I absolutely love boxing games and feel that this one was done very well. On the other...I have some serious issues with the MULTI-PLAYER gameplay.
STAND-ALONE: Outstanding!! Easy set-up. Very real feel to the action. The training sequences...while repetitive, don't get too boring really. Love the way you can affect your boxers appearance with training! Customization gives you something other than just beating the crap outta people to look forward to.
MULTI-PLAYER: Poser-types that sit in the middle of the ring with a loaded haymaker are everywhere online!! That bread & butter style of gaming is the reason why games fail online. Hooray for you poser!! You found a way to win 99 out of 100 times with some junk-boxing that steals the realism and the fun from an almost perfect boxing game.
Great game in STAND-ALONE, totally frustrating in MULTI-PLAYER. You make the call.
Note to EA: Just get rid of the Haymakers! Increase the damage done by someone walking into a punch and you will have achieved the desired effect of that stupid Haymaker system. Also...please give up on the right analog stick punching system. The learning curve is too high for it, it gets changed to the button configuration by most people anyway, and it was just a bad idea in the first place. I know there was a push to incorporate that previously useless analog stick, but just because you can do something...doesn't mean you should.
Very real game!!! February 19, 2008 Very good game, the carrer mode it's excellent you can create any boxer with very real caractheristics (in other words yo can create exactly yourself) the only bad thing is the loading times take so long...Overall is a very good game highly recomended!!!
very good game February 9, 2008 First of all, let me say that this is a very good game. The animations and details are cool. Sweat and blood flying off of a punched face give the game a realistic feel. I would give this game a 5 except that I feel they should take a "maddenesque" approach to the carrer mode. It doesn't go into much detail on this front. I would like to see ea go into more of a detailed approach in this area for the next installment of this game. Overall though I would highly recommend.
