Customer Reviews:
Silly, Fun, Satisfying September 6, 2008 LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures is an action/adventure 3D platformer that lets you play as Indiana Jones and his compatriots through the original three Indiana Jones movies. Being a LEGO game, of course, you're all LEGO characters, and all your enemies, items, equipment, and surroundings are made of LEGOs as well. Given that the game has no spoken dialogue (all the cutscenes are acted out with random grunts and noises), it makes for an interesting take on the actual movies.
The gameplay, however, really is a lot of fun. There's a fair amount of beating up enemies, but most of the game is puzzle oriented, and you'll find yourself doing a lot of exploring, sometimes getting stuck, and then having a grand revelation of how to proceed. In general, the game is pretty easy, so you should never get too frustrated, and given the unique gameplay, this would be a fun game for children or adults. Personally, I recommend playing with a friend or loved one, as the 2-player action is much more satisfying than playing with the computer as your accomplice.
Overall, this game is going to be the most fun for diehard Indiana Jones fans, but in itself, it's still a fun game. Anyone who is a fan of puzzle games, platformers, or fans of the LEGO game franchise, should definitely pick this one up.
Loads of fun July 24, 2008 Traveller's Tales returns with another Lego-based game, this time focusing on the Indiana Jones franchise after conquering the world of Star Wars. Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures is exactly what the title implies: the original Indy trilogy in Lego form. Contrary to some negative things that have been said, if you've played any of the Lego Star Wars games, you'll feel right at home here. The gameplay itself is relatively simple, family friendly fun that nearly anyone can pick up and play. Co-op mode is where the real fun of Lego Indiana Jones is to be had though, and like Lego Star Wars before it, the game just has a sense of undeniable charm to it that you can't help but get some enjoyment in the very least out of it. It may not take you too long to breeze through the game though, but if you do, it is worth going back and playing again just to catch all the game's in-jokes and visual gags, along with a horde of hidden items and goodies as well. If there's any real flaws to the game, it's that the AI isn't all that good in terms of enemies and AI-controlled pals, but as a whole, Lego Indiana Jones is massively enjoyable. All in all, Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures continues the tradition of wonderfully fun and family friendly games, and is definitely worth picking up for Indy fans or anyone looking for some good clean fun.
Simple fun. July 19, 2008 There is not much that I can add that has not already been said. This game is something that you can be confident in buying for the whole family. What violence their is looks cartoonish and there is no nudity or sex. If you enjoy the movies, you'll probably enjoy this game.
Just a couple of points that I'd like to add:
Sometimes, though, the action can come to a standstill because the camera angles make it extremely difficult to see puzzles when two people are playing the game. In single player, the camera follows whichever character you have selected. With two players, it zooms out to show as much as possible.
Also, certain stages can be difficult as the pieces to the various puzzles are sometimes well hidden. While my brother and I were playing I had an online strategy guide up to get us through the difficult parts, and I'd recommend you doing the same as you play.
It's fun July 10, 2008 It's like the older version of Lego's video game: Star Wars Trilogy. Same structure, kind of graphics, etc. But it is fun (as Star Wars version). I would vote with 5 stars but I expected more innovations in this game.
Very good game July 10, 2008 I bought it for my son, who was delighted playing it, and his only complain is that it is a bit short. It is based on the stories of the first three Indiana Jones movies. Graphics are excellent in a HD TV set, as is the sound through a home theater. I recommend this game to any PS3 owner
