YOU WILL BE VERY UPSET December 7, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is the worst game system out to date you must beware. There is a 33% fail rate "but i feel its alot more then that because i had to send mine back 8 times because it just died on me" and if u want games with good graphics then yea this system is good but still not the best "PS3 has the best" and if you want to watch an HD movie you can do BUT you would have to spend an extra 200 bucks for the HD-DVD drive to watch em. Wanna have wireless internet? SURE you can....time to spend 120 bucks for it because its not built in....
Wanna play TRUE HD gaming and play on 1080p.....guess what you cant even though they do have a HDMI port in the system its only ver 1.2 you need 1.3 to get TRUE 1080p.....yea i know microsoft lied to you and i did like the system at first when i got mine but after i did some research i learned that its not good at all and sending my system back 8 times was starting to get very very old
so do yourself a favor and do not buy this system and if you do buy it you will see what i mean when your systems dies and you have to send it in 6-100 times
i would tell you to get a ps3 for a less then .2% fail rate, best graphics, free online, HD movies "blu-ray", built in wireless internet, and really really good games
so think about it and before you buy this worthless system STEP AWAY FROM THIS GAME SYSTEM..........RIPE OFF!!!!!!!
Way Too Loud. Disappointed. December 6, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Too loud (fact) Not enough *good* games (opinion) More expensive than PS3 (fact if you consider a Hi-Def dvd player and wifi) Better controller than PS3 (opinion) If you like to watch hi def movies, the 360 noise *will* bother you. Watching Transformers? Maybe not as much. Watching Planet Earth? Definitely annoying. Opinion: Buy the PS3 and a Toshiba A2 and you end up with BOTH formats for LESS than just the 360 w/HD & wifi. And the PS3 game selection is very good unless you need more than 20 games at a time. Personally, I play 2-3 games and they last me a few months, then add another game here or there as something cool is released. To each their own. My opinion is the PS3 is a superior platform.
We forgive December 2, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Any Microsoft product is a love-hate relationship. The 360 has the best games and the most versatlity. However it seems to be plauged with bugs. Often time I'll be playing a brand new game and at the most exciting part it'll freeze and give me a "dirty or damaged disk" error message. The system, at times, can be very frustrating. However, we forgive Microsoft because their games are so great. If you're planning to go wireless, make sure you will be using it near the router; I use mine in the opposite end of the house from the router and can never get a steady enough connection. Out of the 360, the PS3, and the Wii, the 360 is a must.
Customer Service= Horrible November 25, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased my Xbox 360 when I was still living in the US. Since I have moved to Hungary for my job and brought it with me. For a little over a year (a year and two weeks) everything with my console was perfect and it worked great here.
Then the unthinkable happened, my unit was one of those with the "manufacturing defect" and needed a replacement. I registered on the website, got the shipping label, mailed customer service (about 5 times) to make sure I'd be getting a replacement US version, not European version. What I received were pre-written messages which never really addressed my concerns. After waiting a month for the box to arrive (surely as Microsoft was paying all costs of the replacement they'd send a box and packaging- Apple does this and it makes sense) I decided to go buy a box and packaging as they weren't sending one it seemed (again no response from Customer Support other than an automated email).
Being the skeptic that I am I decided to write up a nice notice and stick it in the box with my console hoping someone would realize that a European console would not be an adequate replacement. Two weeks passed, then UPS delivered a new Xbox 360 to my door. Sure enough, even though I tried multiple times and in multiple formats I received a European replacement.
Now only 2 of my 8 games work (the other 6 are locked by region codes), I no longer have a DVD player capable of playing region 1 DVD except for my computer, and I am not a happy customer. I decided to give Microsoft another chance and sent them a mail stating my dissatisfaction with their customer service and inadequacy of the replacement- of course the response did not at all address my concerns and only mentioned to call their technical support line (this is a 1-800 number free for people in the US; expensive for those of us who are not). I wrote back saying calling would cost too much, gave them my number, and requested they call me anytime day or night, again automated response giving no information whatsoever.
In summary, the Xbox360 is a nice system, but the Customer Support you can expect is the worst I have ever had. As a result of their inability to provide a true replacement for my console I am out ~$300 in games which no longer work, and I have to re-purchase the more expensive European versions if I want to play them.
Xbox360 Vs Playstation 3 November 24, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had been awaiting the arrival of the Sony PS3 and decided not to bother with the Xbox360 i had never been a keen Xbox lover anyway. However i gave into temptation and purchased one and have not looked back and in some ways i am glad i made the dcision i did. There are a number of moans about the PS3, when it comes down to quality or screen quality there really is nothing in comparison to these consoles. I have seen the veiw of the PS3 and to be quite honest i have not found it to be better than the Xbox360 the two are very closely matched. However Microsoft has given you a choice on having a DVD player with or without, I know at the time the Xbox release there was no DVD player for this system. Never the less the price of both consoles are changed dramatically. PS3 you have the Blueray which has kept the price tag very high Now if you don't have a high definition TV Blue ray is a wasted expense as you are not going to benefit from this crisp quality picture playing your Blueray Movies. If you were the sort that enjoyed high quality definition in your movies at the time the PS3 console at the price tag it was on sale for was very cheap in comparison to a Blue Ray DVD player Standalone but you would lose out as a gamer as there were very little in the way of games to play on it. Xbox release their HD sepperate DVD player and this looks as though it has been a huge success story for Microsoft. I have read recently that Sony had admitted defeat in the fact that HD was winning the Format war so does this mean that eventually Blueray will disapear very much like the days of the VHS and Betamax cassette and Beta was a Sony idea which died a death and VHS succeeded as the chosen format by all. So if HD does win this war then Blueray will at somestage come to an end so this makes buying the PS3 not worth the money. What i did like about the PS3 is the sleek design to which the Xbox does not have not even the Elite in its black colour really does the rick but the 120Gb hard drive does. On line game playing is brilliant so i am told although i have never done this "I maybe missing out" I went into a shop only the other day the Xbox with all its games is placed at the very front of the shop however the PS3 section sits in a very confined area at the back of the shop and the games are very limited to about two shelves where as the Xbox covers approx 1 whole isle with about 4 lots of shelves up. XBox comes out on top against the PS3 in my mind as Microsoft has left the choice to you rather than Sony basically flogging a dead horse which is far too overpriced the 40Gb is rubbish as you cannot play PS2 games on it so i am told, 60Gb is nice but that Blueray player is it really worth the money i don't think so Xbox is king of the consoles so far as i am concerned. PS2 console was the best console back in the early days but matters have moved on somewhat and the Xbox360 ranks as the champion and best contender so far.
