Rock Band July 18, 2008 I ordered this for my son's 18th birthday, at his request. He has really enjoyed playing it! His friends came over and brought additional guitars and they had a blast!
Best Game Ever July 17, 2008 Best game ever, the guitar have the correct measure, have both keys for solo and regular play, the drums and the mic are great, best game i ever bought, better than guitar hero
A Great game. Some improvements could be made July 16, 2008 I dont need to add to all the glowing positivity that it credibly gains. So let me nit pick.
This major one is the drum pedal snapping. So I suggest you reinforce it. Go to Loewe's and the lumber section. You'll find a flat metal hinge / plate with holes pre-drilled. Its about 5 inches long and 1.5" wide. Cost $1.07 or so. Get 2. The pedal will snap with use when you become more proficient. Google for a pic and notice where it snaps. Get machine screws and bolt down the pedal to reinforce it. Use Loctite when you do so. Its a mod you must do unless they fixed their flimsy design. I snapped my pedal and fixed it like the above. Works great now.
The guitar fails too where you strum. Mine did not yet. My friends did.
In terms of s/w pgming, it has has "Practice mode". However this mode does not score you. So you cant see your failure point clearly. Notice I said "clearly". If you find yourself failing on an exact spot, you'll see the screen going red before your applause/success bar plummets. There is no such metering in practice. Would be nice to have.
Inspite of these, it is a splendid game. IF YOU LOVE music. Particularly, if you like to drum / sing / air guitar, with a captive audience by will/force. Or if you're a professional bathroom singer. Then you'll love it.
Single player is fun. Replay value does exist if you like to play music. But multi-player is a hoot and where its at.
Go ahead and buy it if you love music and particularly, ANY of the supplied musical instruments.
a family experience! July 13, 2008 I am Jim's wife and the mother of two teenagers - a boy and a girl. I have to say I resisted the purchase of Rock Band. I thought it was a lot of money and they already had Guitar Hero and lots of other games for the PS2 and Xbox 360. But finally, I agreed to allow the kids to purchase RB together with their own allowance money. It arrived quickly from Amazon. The band was unpacked and has become an unprecedented favorite of each of us in the household. My husband jumped in and plays the guitar, drums, and vocals. Our teen kids, who normally pick at each other constantly, play well together and seem to enjoy each other's company. I love watching the family have a common interest.
the game that keeps on giving July 11, 2008 As sad as it sounds, playing Rock Band is some of the most fun my wife and I have ever had. The band world tour mode is an absolute blast and the song selection is varied and excellent. I love making bands, personalizing my characters and having so many instrument options. My only complaint is that the equipment is cheap, which is why I gave it an overall rating of 4 instead of 5. I would give it 4 1/2 if that was an option. I've had a guitar and a drum set break and we weren't playing either of the items overly hard. However, customer service was excellent and both items were promptly replaced free of charge. Rock Band is also the game that keeps on giving via its downloadable songs. When we start to get bored of the game we order more songs and we're excited all over again. We can probably play this game for years without tiring of it as long as we can get new songs. I'll be ordering Rock Band 2 as soon as it's released.
