A long and enduring swan song for the Gamecube November 30, 2007 I bought this game one year ago. I usually finish games within a few weeks, so this game just sat in my gamecube wasting away. This game is long, sometimes frustrating, but very, very rewarding. Completing the game takes about 60 hours, and that is with some help from a gamefaq's walkthrough.
The first thing that strikes you is the atmosphere and graphics. Even for a last generation game, it is impressive. This and Resident Evil 4 really showed that the Gamecube was quit the superb little graphical powerhouse. The lighting, the water, all show new breakthroughs previously unseen in other games at that time. Each realm in the Zelda countryside all have an atmosphere that is both real and fitting.
The game has an open feel encompassing all of the countryside. You get snow, castles, villages, canyons, underwater residences, lakes, etc. The variation and the look is amazing. The amount of things to explore, like all Zelda games, is massive. There are plenty of things to do and plenty of places to explore.
This brings the most important thing - gameplay. Each dungeon is unique in its presentation and gameplay. Many of them are quite ingenious. For example, to pass a certain level, you need to hit a switch with an arrow, which would then turn on an electric current that turns a metallic cave's roof into a giant magnet, which you can climb when you put on magnetic boots. These are the types of "puzzles" that need to be solved. This game rewards thought, not just reflexes.
There are some problems though. I hate bosses in all games, because if you die in the middle, you have to restart it. Also, bosses tend to have one gimmick which you must find out about, and you will just die and die until you figure out the gimmick. Zelda's bosses fit this description. Fortunately, they are not difficult. Also, many levels require you to look at a certain place, or hook into some place that you would have never thought of. For example, in the last level, you have to shoot a painting, which looks like it's just part of the background. If there weren't any walkthroughs on the Internet, I would still be stuck there.
Finally, this is game is long. Way too long. For some people, that is a good thing. For me, not so much. I stopped caring about the story after a while. Not because it's wasn't compelling, but just I wanted to get this game over with.
All in all, a great adventure game that lives up to the Zelda name.
Pros: Great graphics for a last gen game Beautiful atmosphere Nice looking cutscenes Very balanced Unique, inventive, and well thought out dungeons
Cons: Needs a walkthrough at a few points Could have been shorter Time for Zelda to have voice acting
Difficulty: Medium
Time to Complete: 60 hours
Frustration level: Medium

Zeldia Twilight Princess is so much fun. THeir is villance and action and the graphics are great. The only thing I didn't like is that the characters don't talk so you have to read every thing they say. I think this game is worth the money it is very scary I would highly recomned this game for it is super fun.

Zelda's Twilight Princess Goes Back to Basics November 11, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess captures all the excitement and fun of the original Zelda series. Finally, we see Link again in his original heroic form again and not as a whiney tot anymore. The Hero of Time doesn't disappoint.
Good. But not great. October 25, 2007 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've been a fan of Zelda for many years. So far I've played the following.
Zelda I. Zelday II. Ocarnia Of Time. Majoras Mask. Windwaker Twilight Princess.
I've LOVED playing every game, aside from this one. This game just doesn't do it for me like previous releases. Each Zelda release is different in its own right. And this release is no different. There are some pretty neat concepts with this game. But suprisingly none of them are all that fun. One thing I loved about the previous releases was the world design. Each area was different and full of life. This release seems more generic. Everything seems dark and drab, even outside the twilight. It's way to much like the real world. There is a vast expanse of a world their, but their are only slight differences between areas, aside from the desert, and snow worlds.
Take Zoras domain for instance. Pretty much the only difference between this and other domains is water. A small pond here, a lake there. Pretty much nothing "Magical" at all. The only fun part was floating down the huge river. The Gorons domain was typical, but not as threatning, and nothing special. The Sacred forest was just a forest. You live in some farmer village, the charicters are very close to real life charicters you might find. Nothing special.
Being a wolf is fairly fun depending on where you are. But gets quite old. One thing I really do not like is the inability to call epona from anywhere you like. You have to pick some weed and hum a little tune with it. So your limited to doing so to wherever the weeds are. You are constantly running around without your steed.
Pretty much the entire game just seems drab. Even saving your game, a tune plays that is remanicent of a Silent Hill soundtrack. Which depresses you all around.
I can't say I'm completely disapointed with this release. But I can't say I'm happy with it either. Ocarnia of Time was revolutionary. Its world was absolutely amazing, and every feature of that game rocked. Majoras mask wasn't quite as good, but still had an interesting world and story plot, great enemies to fight. Honestly I can't really remember one enemy I've fought so far that was memorable in this game. Majoras mask also had great features, like changing into the different domain charicters. Windwaker, which a lot of people hated. And I did to at first, but it was a completely new take, with a world that was huge. Introducing islands to the mix, and I have to say, that was one of my favorite releases as well. You had to save your sister, what's not to fight for there?
In this release your fighting for a group of mostly bratty kids. There really isn't anything special about them. And to rid the world of this twighlight zone/monsters. Once you beat the twilight out of the area it really doesn't look any different then it did before.
I have yet to beat this game, I'm still trudging my way through it But I'm about 2/3rds done with it, and not impressed as far as Zelda releases go.
Excellent Work October 17, 2007 The developers took a lot of time and resources to make this game. It's excellent work. Even so, a lot of the material is borrowed from OoT other iterations. It takes away from the originality. I think the forest should be much more expanded and explorable. It seems very isolated to me, and very predictable where you CAN go. Also, the Kokiri didn't make any kind of cameo appearance from OoT. I was hoping to see a little of that.
