its over all a great game to play November 30, 2005 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This game is fun and exciting to play. Though many people dislike it because of the long scenes in between missions, you dont have to watch them. By simply pressing the L3 button you can easily skip the movie. Comparing it to GTA is a dumb idea, theyre nothing alike at all. They each take place in different countries, have somewhat different themes, and unlike GTA, The Getaway has a MUCH better story. So to the people who didnt like it for the long, scenes, and those now contemplating whether or not to play it because of the long scenes simply press L3 to skip them and enjoy the game.

THIS IS A GAME ABOUT NOTHING ITS NOT EVEN WORTH $1.99. ITS ABOUT VIOLENCE,DRUGS,SEX AND THATS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TAKE MY WORD DON'T BUY.
If This Is You October 5, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
If This Is You(exaggerated or not):
1) ZOMG!1! This game is too linear! 2) Why should a game have long cutscenes? It's not a movie!!!
-and the ever popular-
3) It's like Grand Theft Auto in England!!!
DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME! You'll look, feel, and be foolish. Side effects include: turning into a fanboy, ranting, ranting on forums, ensuing in oil and water arguments, generally pissing people off.
If THIS is you:
1) I like The Transporter, Snatch, and/or Tarantino kitsch. 2) I can watch these movies again and again. 3) GTA is fun until you're forced to repeat missions over and over.
Well, there's good news and bad news. The good news is, this is much MUCH easier than the controller-grinding frustration of GTA. It also conforms to the central european gangster genre(i.e. foul language mixed among Britishisms). In that sense, it also has amazing character development and a driving plot(i.e. the main character can only take so much being bullied around before he decides to take the dominant role - oops, was that the ending?!). Anywho, the bad is that it's just slightly frustrating if you can't adapt to the game's high standard of visual puzzles(i.e. blinky=turn, blinky blinky=stop, drop, and boogie). There are some nice challenges, and you WILL beat this game if you try hard enough. Whereas in GTA, it makes you physically ill to repeat a task, in Getaway, it's actually a possibility.
So hey, it's extremely linear and it's "trying to be a movie". If you can't get over that and just enjoy the good story and the neat challenges, play something else or bash your pretty little head in with GTA! Ranting won't make the hurt go away.
Horrible game, not fun, gets boring quick July 16, 2005 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I had such high hopes for this game, and it was horrible. Basically, if you love driving very far from point A to B many many times, then this is the game for you. If you like action, and missions that aren't the same kind every time, this this isn't the game for you. It may be cheap right now, but it's still not worth it.The controls are horrible, and the game's difficulty is just driving.
Insanely Difficult game July 9, 2005 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
This game is ...UN-IMAGINABLY DIFFICULT. Do Not buy this game if you're not willing to endure lasting frustrations in trying to get to the next level. They don't let you skip the looong ass cutscenes they made for each and every level, you have to sit and watch them everytime. PLus there's a lack of proper save in this game, they don't let you save until you beat the whole missions. If you're born gifted with ps2 controllers and willing to endure what i described, you should buy this game. but otherwise, actual gameplay/graphics are incredible.
