It's from the team behind the amazing Prince of Persia: Sands of Time trilogy, so a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game can't be all bad right? Well, think again (when oh when will we see a Turtles game as good as TMNT IV: Turtles in Time?). TMNT is based on the new CGI-animated relaunch of the comic book and cartoon heroes from our youth, and Ubi Soft's video game adaptation seemed promising when first revealed a while back. However, while TMNT has it's share of great platforming elements (like the Prince of Persia games before it), the game also has some just plain boring beat 'em up moments as well thanks to a horde of oncoming enemies that are lacking so much in the AI department that you'll find it easier than you think to blow through the game. Had there been more thought and effort inserted into the combat elements, we could have had something really great here. Not to mention that the game's camera works against you as well, which is more than a pain. That aside, TMNT features enough great platforming elements to make it worth a look, and the game looks very good graphically for a late in life PS2 title, and the voice acting from everyone involved is great as well and fun to listen to. All in all, TMNT is worth checking out, as long as you keep some lowered expectations.
Where's the multi-player aspect to this game??? March 21, 2007 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
My son (7 yrs old) owns many of the recent TMNT games they've put out over the last few years (Battle Nexus, Mutant Nightmare). One of the best features of those games was that it supported multiple players so I was able to go in and team with my son and help him through the harder spots in the game. Plus, it was just a great vehicle to get together and do something fun. The new game, while fun for my son, is only a one player game. Now I just watch him play and he hands me the controller when he gets into trouble. The game still appears fun and he loves it...but I miss the multi-player format of the past. I can't comment much more than that since we've only played it for a short time, but if you are looking for a good TMNT game that can support multiple players...go get Battle Nexus.
Finally TMNT!! March 21, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
So far so GOOd, this hasn't let me down yet. All I got to say is that finally the TMNT are back.
