REMEMBER: DRIVING SIMULATION MEANS DRIVING SIMULATION. January 8, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Those that receive this game as a gift are the only people who have any reason to think "this game is hard" or "I can't turn" or "this game is too picky, realistic, etc." This is a (Arcade mode excluded)Race Car Driving Simulation! That has been made abundantly clear on the internet, in every game ranking website and in the description on the back of the game! Somehow people who have played NFS games or Burnout seem to think they actually could drive a real car like they drive in these games. Gran Turismo 3 quickly shakes you out of the fantasy world and into the real world of racing. Practice, just like in the real world, is the only way to master this game. The way I explained it to the kids when they where trin to take 110 degree corners at 75 mph, was to ask them "Do you think we could take corners on Main Street at even half that speed and not expect to hit the Subway Restaurant,or the Bank, or turn into the Speedway Gas Station at that speed and not take out the pumps?" Or "if we where out in the country cruising at 55mph and try to turn off into your driveway without slowing down, do you think we would roll it over?" It really changed their attitude and concentration on the gameplay. Like me they love it and it was all they could talk about for weeks. Lastly those of you that think it is boring apparently can't get very far in the game. You just have to understand this is so real that with a wheel and pedals it is as close as most of us will get to driving a $150,000.00 Viper GTS at 192 mph! Try and tell me that is not a scream!
OK, but not that great December 9, 2006 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
This game is very challenging. Although the cars are very realistic and the graphics are elxellent the gameplay is very challenging. There are many cars but its hard to control. Only get this game if its really inexpensive.

Gran Turismo was truly something phenomenal when it began on the original Playstation. Now, on the Playstation 2, I think it's time to end the Gran Turismo series. The game isn't BAD at all. It's just ordinary racing.
I think too much emphasis was put on realism and not enough on simply having fun. Every car looks spectacular but they all feel exactly the same. I find myself daydreaming while racing because, honestly, looking at good graphics all the time can only be interesting until the next updated racing title comes out, and then all eyes are focused on THAT game.
I think I know why so many people are selling Gran Turismo for such a cheap price. It's average.
Hope this is helpful... August 23, 2006 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Alright, just know that this is a simulation game, unlike Need for Speed, so remember that you almost ALWAYS have to brake before a turn, unless on the test track. Good game if you have alot of free time, I recommend doing arcade mode if not. Very fun, licences are hard, but helpful. For starters in sim mode try a Mazda Miata, be sure to check the spec's on cars, the game can be tricky. Try not to be frustrated, the phrase "practice makes perfect" has a big place in this game.
Overall, not the best game in the world, but it can kill some serious time if you like it.
Becoming wooden, and a bit boring August 14, 2006 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Yo! I've been gaming since I was in my teens. And I didn't get a Playstation until 2000, when the PS2 was super hard to get.
So, I didn't get GT 1 or 2 until around 2001. I loved those games. They really rocked. I actually remember GT 1 being the funnest.
Well, we have another version of this game, in GT 3. I have to say, this game is getting a bit wooden and boring. A Sim, it is, but without some "crashes" or other effects, it just falls flat, as far as I'm concerned.
I would not recommend buying this, unless it is the first GT you've played. Than, you may as well get GT 4, right?
I would say buy it as a first GT owned; other than that, nothing new here. Move on.
