adds more features making it more complex and story line is more enjoyable like the first one.

1 out of 5 stars Camera is really painful   September 30, 2008

I traded in after playing only a few levels. I guess if you are dedicated, you can get used to camera. It gets really painful to see where you are on some of the more complex boards.

however, I really liked the concept. Its sorta like playing chess. I just wish they had made camera more accessible.

5 out of 5 stars Underappreciated Game   September 28, 2008

Bought this game a few days ago. So far it has been a great experience. Good strategy, game play, storyline, etc. Haven't been able to put it down. Highly recommend this game.

5 out of 5 stars Disgaea 3 is good.   September 27, 2008

Disgaea 3 takes all of the mechanics from previous Disgaea games and perfects them. It is by far the most well thought out and most fun to play of the whole series. The combat is extremely deep and challenging, and the characters are interesting and fun to watch.

Disgaea 3 takes everything learned in making Disgaea 1 and 2 and uses that knowledge to create the best game in the series.

4 out of 5 stars Fun awaits in an addictive game.   September 23, 2008

This is the third game in the Disgaea series. As with its predecessors, Disgaea 3 takes a less than serious approach to the game....yet offers the gamer that rare sense of purpose missing in games today.

Story:

Being light-hearted, you can expect jokes in the gameplay....and while, the jokes aren't frequent, they are funny and well-placed. The game also plays the serious and mature game with plot twists and a drama filled story as the relationship between Mao and his father is revealed. Like all games by NIS, Disgaea 3 offers a rich and diverse cast of characters which add to the storyline.

Gameplay:

There are three key areas that the gamers must become accustomed to:

- The Hub - This is the area you'll find all the NPCs, the shops, game tutorials, portals to the battle maps and the Homeroom.

- The Homeroom - This is where you modify and create characters from hundreds of choices. You will also pass bills that greatly enhance aspects of the game. You will also be introduced to a rare feature in Homeroom....depending on where you seat your characters and next to whom, you'll develop bonds that will enhance combos in battle.

- Battle Maps - Battles take place on a grid where you send out ten characters to battle the enemy units. The battles are turn based and move along smoothly by allowing the gamer an extraordinary amount of options. There is one downside to having all this freedom: Once your characters reach a certain level, they become so overwhelmingly powerful that there is no need for strategy.

Graphics and sound:

This is where the game loses points. For a next gen title, the graphics aren't all that impressive and are only a slight upgrade from the PS2 predesecors and with a lack of cut scenes, this really hurts the overall score for the game.

Final thoughts:

Every action in the game leads to one of two possible endings as you advance the storyline and develop extremmly powerful characters, along with the game's other features should keep you busy for up to 100 hours. There is a lot of fun to be had with Disgaea 3 Absence of Justice and with expansion to be available soon on the PSN this game will only get better.
