4 out of 5 stars Great for everything except Media Center HD Videos   June 14, 2008
In a nutshell, this adapter is simple, elegant, and functional. It's perfect for connecting with XBOX Live, and works for all Media Center Extender needs except HD video (insufficient bandwidth). If you're a gamer, and not a Media Center junkie, this is for you (unless an Ethernet cable is a viable option, in which case you don't need this adapter). If you use your XBOX 360 as a Media Center Extender, you'll probabably want to stick with an Ethernet cable (minimum 100 mbps) unless you have zero interest in HD.

2 out of 5 stars Third Time is a Charm   June 11, 2008
I ordered one from Amazon and like others who have reviewed on here, it did not work and the Xbox 360 could not even detect it. Then I returned and tried a second one, that too did not work. I once again gave it one final try before buying a generic and it finally worked. It was a cinch and all I had to do was enter my WPA information.

I had a weird hunch about a bad batch so when I was purchasing my third unit I looked at the number on the bottom to get one that was different from the others that I have purchased in the past.

When calling Microsoft, they were as worthless as humanly possible and refused to deny any issues with it nor tell me if there was a defective batch. In addition, they wanted me to return my xbox since that is what they thought was going on. Microsoft is truly not producing a quality enough product, and for something that costs an additional $100 on top of the machine, this is unacceptable. At least the PS3 includes onboard wireless and they do not nickel and dime you as Microsoft does.

5 out of 5 stars Expensive but works well   June 11, 2008
The wireless adapter is a little expensive, but if having it working within 15 minutes is important its worth it. I just plugged it in entered my password and a few other settings (using WPA secruity) and it just started working. The xbox is shoved in an entertainment center under a tv and cable box 3 rooms away from the wireless and it never has any problems connecting. It streams wireless music from my home pc fine. No complaints so far, I haven't tried it with video though.

2 out of 5 stars Current problem with Quality Control on these   June 10, 2008

I have heard nothing but good things on these (except for price) but buyer beware right now (~June 2008). I am sending back the second one that is defective, and I have read on numerous message boards that there is currently bad batches of these things being shipped out from microsoft.

Obviously not Amazon's fault (they are great about sending replacements - hopefully the third will work!), and it will hopefully be rectified soon.

4 out of 5 stars Brand New   June 9, 2008
This wireless adapter was brand new still in original packaging. Arrived in just a few days and works great.
