3 out of 5 stars Great for some time   April 13, 2007

Xbox is a great console and extremly fun to play on it. The only constant problem is that the console doesn't work well for too long. The warranty is only for 90 days so after that if it breaks you have to pay $80 + shipping to fix it. My first console broke so I bought a new one. To my surprise the new one broke just a few days after the warranty had expired. It sometimes works though, but even when it does it sometimes freezes.
Overall I like the Xbox, but had too many problems with it.

1 out of 5 stars Microsoft hates their customers (but loves money).   March 26, 2007

I bought my original shiny new XBOX and many new games one month after the xbox360 was released. I resisted buying this original XBOX because I just knew microsoft would find a way of taking my money and then screwing me. SURPRISE, they did just that. Only then did I learn that Microsoft would no longer in any way support the original XBOX and after giving to Microsoft my very hard earned dollars for all that stuff, I was now expected to throw it all out and give them more money for an xbox360. Oh, and then they might get around to backward compatability for a few titles at some point. I pray for the day Microsoft goes down in flames and I will NEVER buy an xbox360.

4 out of 5 stars An ok product.   January 24, 2007

This console is basically the same as the PS2 gamewise. However it may boast good qualities about it, it still has it's flaws. This review is unbiased as I have a GameCube, PS2, and an Xbox.

The Pros:
1. The Xbox has a large library of games to suit any gamer.
2. This system does have slightly better graphics than the other systems.
3. The controllers are easy to learn and use.
4. It has a Hard Drive so you don't have to buy those expensive memory cards.
5. It can support Dolby Digital for extreme sound quality.
6. You can play online via Xbox Live.

The Cons:
1. One of the most feared defects of the Xbox console. The Coma Console. This occurs when the BIOS on the motherboard has gone bad and you cant play games on it anymore. It is irreversible and can only be fixed by replacing your motherboard (which I did myself) This will occur to most systems eventually.
2. The console is huge! You will have to find a large surface to put it on to prevent overheating.
3. It is very loud when running.
4. The console has many other defects that can occur.
5. Xbox Live costs money while PS2 online is free.

So overall, I can't recommend either PS2 or Xbox over each other. I've had my problems with both. But if your looking for online play, PS2 is the way to go. (Just make sure if your getting a PS2 that it's the slimline model because the original is faulty.)

My sons are having a great time. Unit purchased slightly used with 5 games and an extra controller. Excellent value off the price of a new unit.

5 out of 5 stars Best Console   January 12, 2007

The original Xbox is still the best console out there. Even with the PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 I love my xbox. There are more games for it than anything else and they are always the best games. Who can resist Halo 2 after all? If you're thinking about a console, get an original xbox, it's good for all ages.
